In this post, we look at the Pinterest Pins that performed best last September to help you understand what you should be Pinning this month.
We analyzed all of the Pins from Tailwind members from September of last year and Pinned the ones that received the most Repins to our 11 “trends” boards – one board for each of the 11 most popular Pinterest categories.
We Pinned to these boards in the chronological order that the Pins were published, so Pins at the bottom of the board are from earlier in the month and Pins at the top are from later in the month. Only the Pins on the board between the Pins that feature the text “What to Pin in August” and “What to Pin in September” relate to Pins that were popular last September.

What To Pin in September
Heavy on organizing and pallet projects, September Pins also start to include Christmas – already! Now’s the time to promote wreaths and Grandparent’s Day ideas if you have those – they’re trending.
Plan ahead for pinnable content by getting your DIY Thanksgiving crafts, DIY Christmas gift, and Christmas craft content going.
Back-to-school month brings the predictable mix of content for setting up your class room for the new year, but also features some education for grown ups. If you have an early literacy or bulletin ideas for fall, Promote those – they’re trending.
Plan ahead by working on your blog posts featuring Christmas and winder art projects or art lessons, reading lessons, indoor activities, and educational travel games.
It’s all yummy, cheesy, and creamy in food and drink in September! Trending now are fried chicken, fall recipes (warm and spicy comfort food, and of course – pumpkin! Promote those now.
Looking ahead, it’s time to blog about Thanksgiving recipes and kitchen hacks, Christmas party treats, and party menus. No time for that? You can always give your existing recipes new Pins to give them new life on Pinterest.
Braids and textured styles are in, along with some homecoming styles, darker lips and nails than in previous months, and lots of metallics on the eyes.
Trending now (Promote these!) are French beauty and fall hair color.
Plan ahead by creating content for Christmas party looks, makeup for a dinner party, or how to pack a suitcase for holiday travel.
Yoga is big, as are keto diets and diabetes ideas. The typical workout and running program Pins appear, but there are more mental health and balance Pins than earlier this year. If you have any Crossfit Pins or Keto/paleo Pins, consider Promoting those now.
Plan ahead in content creation with healthy Thanksgiving and Christmas food swaps, healthy comfort food and how to say fit while traveling.
Halloween, all things pumpkin, and theme parties based on current kids’ movies are all the rage. Trending now are decorating ideas for fall and halloween treats (Promote these).
If you’re looking for content ideas, get going on your dinner party planning, Thanksgiving EVERYTHING, travel hacks with kids, and Christmas.
Neutrals are still in! Closets and organization also top the list. Trending now are neutrals, but with pops of bright color and cottage style. Promote those!
Get blogging about Thanksgiving and Christmas decor as well as dinner party decor. You’ll want to Pin those in the next month or so.
Not surprisingly lunch box ideas are big as are fun projects for kids. Trending now are Halloween crafts for kids, so Promote those if you have them.
Start blogging about DIY Christmas gifts kids can make and travel ideas to keep kids busy.
Florida and Disney are perennial favorites. Hawaii and Thailand keep showing up as well, because, well, Hawaii and Thailand… Trending now? Asheville, NC travel – and probably anywhere else with great autumn foliage. Promote those Pins now.
Brush off your old travel activities, places to spend the holidays, and holiday travel tip blog posts, or write some new ones. You’ll want those for the next few months.
